Conde Contemporary at Chicago Art Fair 2026

Conde Contemporary will present six featured artists at the inaugural Chicago Art Fair: Gustavo Acosta, Andrés Conde, Ciro Quintana, Natasha Kertes, Kevin Sloan and Pablo Santibáñez Servat.
Taking place October 7–10, 2026, at THE MART in Chicago, the fair brings together contemporary and modern art galleries from across the United States and abroad. Conde Contemporary’s presentation in Booth 3072 will focus on narrative painting, magical realism, contemporary Cuban art, symbolic realism and conceptual photography.
At first glance, the six featured artists appear to speak in very different visual languages. Their work ranges from Gustavo Acosta’s architectural landscapes and Ciro Quintana’s layered cultural narratives to Kevin Sloan’s allegorical natural worlds, Pablo Santibáñez Servat’s historically informed magical realism, Natasha Kertes’ constructed photography and Andrés Conde’s constantly shifting approach to painting.
What connects them is not a shared style or medium, but a shared understanding that beauty can be an opening rather than a conclusion. Each artist builds a world governed by its own logic, one in which familiar subjects become more complicated the longer we look.
Featured Artists
Gustavo Acosta
Cuban-born painter Gustavo Acosta is internationally recognized for architectural landscapes that examine the passage of time and the relationship between civilization, place and history. His precisely structured but psychologically charged cityscapes transform buildings, streets and public spaces into repositories of human ambition and absence. Acosta’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in collections including El Museo del Barrio, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, the Frost Art Museum and the Fisher Museum of Art.
Andrés Conde
Andrés Conde allows the idea behind each painting to dictate its visual language. Moving between pop realism, classical figuration, political imagery and the vintage graphic vocabulary of his celebrated SOCIAL series, he brings popular culture into conversation with history, mythology, exile and power. His women are not passive subjects: they look back, sometimes glare, and occupy their worlds with agency.
Ciro Quintana
Ciro Quintana emerged as a central figure in the New Cuban Art movement of the 1980s and was a founder of the influential Havana collective Puré. His paintings layer popular imagery, art-historical references, personal narrative and social satire into densely constructed scenes that consider both the making of art and the mythology surrounding it. His work is represented in museum collections in Cuba, the United States and Europe, including the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, the Lowe Art Museum and the Ludwig Forum for International Art.
Natasha Kertes
Natasha Kertes approaches photography as both image and physical object, altering the conditions through which the subject is seen. In Silver Rain, an editioned lenticular photograph, the position of the figure changes as the viewer moves before it. The work’s surface appears scratched, rough and damaged, while the female form remains pristine. That contradiction, between beauty and abrasion, appearance and material, is characteristic of Kertes’ practice.
Kevin Sloan
Kevin Sloan constructs meticulously rendered natural worlds in which animals, flowers and human-made objects coexist in scenes that feel improbable yet entirely convincing. His symbolic paintings explore wonder, resilience, loss and the relationship between humanity and the living world. Sloan’s work is held in museum and public collections including the Israel Museum, Phoenix Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, Tampa Museum of Art and Tucson Museum of Art.
Pablo Santibáñez Servat
Chilean-born painter Pablo Santibáñez Servat combines Old Master technique with magical realism, symbolism and visual references drawn from different centuries and cultures. His meticulously painted figures inhabit environments that belong neither entirely to the present nor the past. Works including León con Guacamayas use beauty, animals and historical imagery to examine how ideas and symbols travel between civilizations.
Six Artists, One Transparent Thread
Throughout the presentation, historical references meet contemporary experience; nature encounters the constructed world; and technical precision gives credibility to scenes that could not exist anywhere else.
No single visual language unites the booth. The thread is present but deliberately transparent: each artist uses beauty to gain our attention, then asks us to look again. Additional works by artists from Conde Contemporary’s broader program will complement the six featured presentations.
